I found a great pattern for a quick knit hat on the Yarn Harlot's blog. However after the first one was knitted I found it just a little too short as it did not cover my ears and it was a little too tight for my head so I adjusted the pattern a little. I tried to keep track of my adjustments and here is the new pattern:
Materials:
- 3 strands of worseted weight held together or two strands of chunky
- 12 mm straight needles
Gauge:
- 7 stitches to 10 cm
Steps:
- Cast on 40 stitches
- Knit 5 rows
- RS - Knit one row increasing two stitches equally spaced (42 sts)
- WS - K1, purl to last stitch, K1
- RS - Knit
- Repeat last two rows until 14 rows have been worked ending with a RS
Begin Decreases:
- K3, *K2tog, K2, repeat from * until end
- K1, P2, *P2tog, P1, repeat from * until end
- Knit across
- K1, purl across, K1
- K1, *K2tog, K1, repeat to end
- K1, *P2tog, P1, Repeat to end
- P2tog across until 4 stitches remain
Cut yarn leaving enought to thread through remaining stitches and sew up the seam. Make sure to line up the garter stitch rows.
I made mine using two strands of Bernat Alpaca, one green and one purple.
It was not off the needles for 10 seconds and my mother claimed it as her own!
Enjoy!

Update on the Cowl Situation
Here are pictures of the Cullin Cowl by Quince & Co that I made for my sister in law for her birthday.
I am now in the process of making one in white in a very soft yarn, Hopefully it will be done by tomorrow as it is a Christmas gift! It needs to get done :Z

Busy busy busy
So life has been extremely busy since the last time I wrote. With work, driving to Toronto and work again I have had very little time to sit here and remark on my knitting. This is also because I have not really accomplished much in regards to my knitting.
In my last post I mentioned this wonderful new yarn I received from Quince & Co. I started and finished a cowl using the Puffin yarn in Snap Pea and it was absolutely gorgeous however I do not have a picture to share yet. It was a birthday present for my sister in law who celebrated her 30th birthday over the weekend. She is suppose to send me a pic of her modeling it. Fingers crossed.
I am sill working on the beautiful wrap sweater for the soon to be born (less then 10 days) little baby Sloper as well as the matching booties to go with the already completed hat. I have also started another cowl in a fluffy white yarn from Charisma for my boss at work who loved the one I completed for my sister in law. Also, lol, I am still finishing the Christmas present for my friend Denise, halfway there.
So as you can see I have a lot of knitting to get finished and very little time to do it. So I am going to post this and get back to work.
Wish me luck,

Qunice & Co!!
I am so excited to share with you my new found favorite yarn supplier!
Today I received my order from Quince & Co. I have purchased two different weights of yarn:
1) Lark (lichen and pea coat)
2) Puffin (Snap Pea)
I cannot wait to get these all rolled up and on to some needles!

A few missing days!
Okay so I have not abandoned this blog so early in it's life. This holiday season is so busy! Here is a recap of the goings on.
So after much struggle and many pokes in the eye my sock is finally started. There has to be some trick to working with dpns that I have not yet figured out because every time I pickup this sock I am forever poking myself in the eye with the not in use needles. So needless to say the progress of theses socks is rather slow.
The Christmas tree is up and decorated finally after much disaster regarding the tree stand. All I have to say is Finding out that there is a hole in your tree stand after you have already watered the tree is not fun. Mini lake in my living room, thank god I do not have carpet and it was easily cleaned up
As of lately I have throwing myself into knitting cute little baby things for a friends soon to born little girl. The first thing that I knit for her was some cute little booties in pink but I have now decided that they need to be white to match this hat that I made her.
I have also started a wrap sweater in this lovely blue color from Debbie Bliss, the cashmerino aran is so soft and cuddly.
I will definitely post pictures of the finished product as I am sure that is going to be absolutely adorable.
So I believe that that is all that I have been up to as of late other then tacking a very bust walmart on the weekend where I had to stand in line for a cart!

Socks or no socks?
It is officially December and I could not be happier. The holiday season is finally here!
So on Monday I returned home from my yarn shop and decided to roll my new yarn into a nice new ball.
Of course I do not have a machine for this as of yet but I normally do not encounter problems. All I have to say is HUGE MESS! It took me probably 3 hours to untangle my beautiful new yarn but it is done as of last night while I watched New York city light the Rockefeller Tree. So Beautiful!
As for working with dpns for the first time it did not go as smoothly as I thought. I did all my research: read a how to book, watched a you tube video, and read some patterns. I did three rows before realizing that I was not working in a circle! I did not know how to join my needles together. I have now figured this out and I am ready to start my first sock. I will be using this nice little pattern I found online. I will keep you posted on the progress!
