I got two socks, I got two socks!
Wahoo! Mom's socks are done and just in time for Christmas.
Here are the details:
I have no idea why this took me so long but I am glad they are done so I can let myself make a pair for me. I found the dpns quite hard to use on the second sock, weird so I switched to magic loop after the heel and this went much faster for me. For more info please see my Ravelry Project Page
We I can't stay long as I still have other gifts to finish and it's Christmas EVE!! Off to do some quilting now.

Well so Abby's Queenie hat did not fit so it is being passed to one of her friends who is only 3 months old. It will look so cute on her. As for the sweater it might fit for two weeks done up and maybe for another 2 with the buttons open lol. She is just growing so fast.
I have made her a new hat in the same color

I have not yet found a sweater pattern that will be just right; I am actually tossing around the idea of just designing my own :S
Stay tuned!
Off to do some holiday shopping

Queen Bee Hat
I have knit my god daughter another hat since she just keeps growing and growing.
This hat is the Queenie Hat from Woolly Wormhead. I decided to knit the smallest size and I think it should fit her quite nicely for this winter.
I used Berrocco Vintage; about half a skein.
Her birthday party is this weekend so hopefully I can get a picture of her modeling her new knits :)

First time blocking
So I decided to give blocking a try for Abbie's sweater. All I have to say is this is a must. I could not get over how dirty the water was after! and the fabric is so much softer now that I have 'Soaked' it.
I encountered some problems while knitting the hood. With Jane’s advice I decided to pick up the 27 stitches around the neck cast on then for the first row of seed stitch I increased my stitches so that I would have the required 44 stitches. To do this I worked seed stitch for 5 stitches then increased one in each stitch for 17 stitches and then cont in seed stitch for the last 5 stitches to equal a total of 44 stitches. I then worked the rest of the hood as described in the pattern.
Completed the button bands as instructed in the pattern. I found the button holes not well formed so after the button band was complete I went around each hole and reinforced with the yarn. (not sure if this can be seen in the photo below)
Ends are all weaved in and the sweater is now soaking to be blocked and will have the buttons sewed on tomorrow :)

Saturday Sweater Progress
With my god daughter's 1st birthday fast approaching I am trying to finish her new wooly sweater.
I choose to knit her a sweater with a hood this year:
Pattern: Manda Ruth by Jane Richmond (p.s. Love love love her designs, I will knit something from her for myself next!)
Yarn: Lark by Quince and Co
Now on to the next arm!

This arm pit had to be patched a bit as I am still acquiring my stitch pick up skills. Also for this project I thought myself with the use of You Tube how to do Magic Loop. I found that with the small opening of the arms it was difficult to use DPNs, with the magic loop method it was much easier to handle and quicker for me.
Now on to the next arm!

Simple Seed Stitch Scarf
I have been meaning to put up this scarf for awhile now but I have been to busy wearing it instead of writing the pattern done. I am not taking credit for creating this pattern as I am sure that it has been done and re-done so many times. This project is the perfect on the go, keep in your bag for the bus kind of project.
Here is what I did:
I picked out this fabulous yarn:
Needles used: US9 or 10 I can't remember (you can just go with the recommended needle size on the yarn)
Gauge: 4.5 stitches per inch, 7 rows per inch
Yardage: 324 yards, 3 Skeins
Size: 9.5" x 52"
Using the long tail cast on, cast on 42 stitches.
To set up seed stitch pattern:
Row 1: K1, *P1, K1, rep to the end
Row 2: P1, *K1, P1, rep to the end
Continue with the seed stitch pattern until the scarf is as long as you like. I thought two skeins would be enough but in the end I had used 3 (I probably could have gone with 4 so I could get more of a wrap around length.
Enjoy and happy knitting!

Here are some recent picks of my sweater. It was so fascinating to see it take shape after putting the sleeve stitches on hold!

Summer in a dress
This summer dress is being knit for my god daughter who is just growing like a weed. I am trying to have it done by mid august so she will get some wear out of it. She is six months now so this should fit her comfortably for the rest of the summer and maybe fall with a cute undershirt.
I think Iwill have to increase the length of the straps by about 1/2 an inch more as she is a tall girl
I have started the back of the dress,
Well I hope you are all enjoying your summer and are not melting with this high heat. Stay tuned for an update on my sweater knit along project :) I finally took some photos lol
