My buttons from OruAka arrived today and I have sewed them onto the cowl. The buttons are fabulous. The pattern on the wood is great and they are so nice and soft.

I just love how it turned out!

Spring time is coming! Well at least for the clocks

So clocks were put ahead an hour on Sunday and it has totally messed up my internal clock. This week has been hell getting up. All I have to say for this time of yer is that it means we are getting that much closer to spring; five months of winter is way too long!

This week's weather has been pretty great if you don't include today's gray gloom weather. Since it was nasty and gross outside I felt it was time for some spring time yarn and a summer project. Here is the yarn that I purchased at Wool N Things:

Stay tuned to find out what is being made with these fabulous colors!

I have also almost finished my big comfy cowl. All it is missing is three big buttons. I just love how soft and cuddly it is. For my first experience with cables it was an awesome pattern.

Keeping my fingers crossed for more sunshine!

Grey Grey Everywhere!

Okay so it is grey and nasty here in Ottawa and has been for a couple of days. I am so over this grey weather and connot wait for spring to come and grace us with its lovely colors. It is still slightly cold and damp here so I have strated a cabled cowl for myself to help fend off the chill. It is in a great raspberry colored fluffy chunky yarn and I cannot wait to have it done and around my neck.

This is a pattern from Ravelry and can be found here. It is my first cable attempt and it seems to be going well. Stay tuned for pictures when it is done :)

p.s. My prayers and thoughts are with all those who are in Japan and those who have family and friends there. May God take care of those who were lost in the tsunami.

Back from Jamaica!

Back from Jamaica as a married women! So exciting.

I thought for sure I was going to get some knitting done while I was away but I was greatly mistaken. I was scared to lose my needles if I took them on a plan even though TSA allows this in Canada. Regretted this during the 3 hour flight to Jamaica. Got 5 rows done on a baby hat while in Jamaica. Thats it! I didnt even touch the other two projects I took with me. Didn't put my knitting things in my carry on for the way home, who knows what Jamaica's rules are. Regretted this when our flight was delayed for 3 hours due to snow storms at home. Nice way to welcome a newly married coupe home :(

So today was a sort of catch up or get back to knitting again day. I finished the baby hat which looks a little big to me but it is sized for a 3-6 month old so maybe it will be okay.

This was my first attempt at embroidering a design on a knitted item so hopefully it looks alright. It's suppose to be two flowers but my DH thinks they look like crosses. The hat is a pattern from 'Easy Baby Knits' by Claire Montgomerie and is done using Cotton Cashmere by Debbie Bliss in shade 15002

Maybe tomorrow I will finally finish that first sock! lol Who am I kidding :)
