Quiet time on the blog

Life has been super busy and it will only get worse as I am soon back to work after being on maternity leave this past year. I will try to stop by to post but they will be sporadic at best. I hope to be back full time someday once I figure out how to better manage my time between work, being a mom and wife, and my crafting.

Thank you for your understanding.

TTT KAL Finished Cardi Post - Better late than never

Gahhh where did the time fly. It has been super crazy here with a teething baby and summer weather slowly approaching.

I am finally getting to sit at the computer to show you my wonderful finished card. I am absolutely in love with it and I am wearing it all the time in the mornings and evenings as it still gets a little cool here. the open front and 3/4 length sleeves are just perfect for this type of weather.

So with out further ado here it is :) (my wonderful instagram collage hehe)

Ravelry Project Page: here

And if you haven't yet had a chance to see the 'Staring You' post my Shannon, hop on over to Luvinthemommyhood to see the wonderful round up of projects. Everyone did such a great job. My 'to knit' list has definitely grown over this knit long.

And have you seen the prizes!!!!! OMG I have my fingers crossed that is for sure :)

TTT KAL Update

Just pics :) since it has been crazy busy around here

I am almost done the second sleeve and will hopefully get it blocking before I go to bed tonight :) Stay tuned for the pre block photo and the blocked photo. I am interested to see how much the yarn grows after reading everyones comments. I am hoping to get some room in the sleeves and a little extra length.
Then all that is left is the collar/button bands. I can see the finish line!!

p.s. there has been a deadline extension. Finish time is now May 28th!! I am totally going to make it.

How have your projects been coming along?

Rainy Day Sewing

I did a quick little project while it was raining. It is the Sock Knitting Project bag using the tutorial from Luvinthemommyhood. The pattern is super easy to follow and was cut and sewn up in about 2 hours minus baby time so maybe an hour :)

I absolutely love it and can see many more in my future. Maybe one even sweater sized :)

What are you working on at the moment? Sewing of knitting or both? Come chat with me

TTTKAL - Week 2 update

So my goal for this week was to have the body done on this cardi.

Well that did not happen and for a good reason :) My baby started crawling this week!! We had figured it would happen soon and we are so excited to see her getting her move on. However, this is seriously cramping my knitting style because I am forever chasing her and removing her from the dog beds. I am not complaining though. I now just knit mainly while she is napping during the day or when my husband is home or when she is asleep at night.

Here is a progress shot form last night :)

I have just 4 more front shaping increases and then I will measure and see how much more plain knitting I have until the ribbing :) I love how this is turning out and cannot wait to wear it. It is very warm here now so I might not really get to wear it that much.

This weeks goal: Finish the body and get a at least one arm done

How is your KAL project coming? Have you been working on any new projects? Let me know :)

TTA KAL - Week One Update

So the first week of the Tops Tanks and Tees Knit Along is over and I am proud to report that I have made excellent progress on my cardi :) I am just so excited to show you how much I have got done.

The pattern calls for reverse stockinet stitch to be the right side of the fabric but i am just in love with how the stockinet side is looking so I will be using that s the right side. I am still not sure what stitch I will do for the collar and button bands. Still looking at Ravelry projects for ideas :)

Here is what I have done so far:

I am hoping that by next wednesday I will have the body completed on the cardi so I can try it on and show you all how it is looking. This might be wishful thinking on my part lol as I am a somewhat slow knitter.

And I just have to say that this yarn so wonderful to work with! Quince and Co Tern in Columbine.

So I am off to get some more knitting done and have my second cup of coffee for the day :)

Knit along time!

So the fabulous Shannon over at Luvinthemommyhood has a spring time knit along starting today! The knit along is a Summer Tops Tanks and Tees Knit Along that is just so what I need to get my knitting mojo back.

You can pop on over to her Pinterest board if you need some inspiration; the selection of patterns is just awesome. I wish I had more time to knit :)

Here are some of my favs :)

From top left to bottom right: 1) Biston pattern by Mercedes Tarasovich-Clark 2) Bonny pattern by tincanknits 3)  Etty pattern by Caroline Lang 4) Castle Pullover by Cecily Glowik MacDonald

The pattern I have chosen has been in my favorite list for a long time and I have had the yarn sitting in my stash for over a year! It is high time that I knit this cardigan. I am excited to be knitting a sweater for myself again as my life was full of baby knits for so long.

The pattern I am going to be knitting is the Abigail Cardi by Cecily Glowik MacDonald and the yarn is Tern by Quince and Co in the colorway Columbine.

The yarn is zoo soft and squishy and I cannot wait to have a finished cardi to wrap around myself on cool summer nights.

Well I am off to get swatching and finish winding my yarn. Knitting starts tomorrow :)

Jackson's Quilt

My friends Mike and Tanya welcomed a their first baby in December so of course he required a quilt to cuddle with and drag around the house later on.

Block planning stage:

White strips have been added:

Felt the quilt was not big enough so I added a border of the blue Berenstain Bears fabric:

 Here is the finished product:

I absolutely love how this turned out! I even figured out how to do the mitered corners :)
